BALL BEARINGS:	One large Ball Bearing in rotor and needle bearing on main gear.
GEAR RATION:	1:4.1 and this reel retrieve 95 cm of line per turn. The spool has a capacity of 300 meters 0.30mm, the standard 498X which was produced between 1992- 2001 has 300 meters of 0.50mm

The reel has a plastic spool but bronze bushing which makes it very strong.

The side cover has a O-ring, be very careful when you reassembly this reel.

Thats what we call a main gear, it runs on a needle bearing. You can remove all factory grease and apply oil. It make the reel turn very smooth.
