REMARKS: I bought this reel in the local Lidl supermarket at 08-June-2007. I was not there for buying this reel but according the originel bill I bought beer, bread and some other small items. During shopping I noticed that the Lidl shop was selling some fishing equipment and to my surprise I found this reel. I looked at it and found it a very nice reel, the price tag was only 17.99 euro. I looked again to the reel and inspected the nice aluminium spool, very nice. I checked again if the price was 17.99 euro and checked the reel a third time. 30 seconds later a box with this reel landed in my small shopping cart.

For 17.99 euro this reel is certainly a bargain, of course the quality could be better on some points, its certainly worth the money. It has a nice aluminium spool and the drag is very good, no problems with that. The size is nice, not so big as these big Shimano and Daiwa many people use these days. This reel is the size of a Mitchell 300. I have loaded the reel with 25/100 sufix nylon and it spools very good, no problems with that. The baitrunner or free spool function works perfect and resistance is adjustable to almost nothing to heavy resistance in the free spool setting. The AR is silent and works instantly. Also the reel looks superb, not too much bling bling, just a nice grey reel with some limited chroom. I used the reel only 4 times this season and was unlucky to catch no carp on this reel yet. What I do not like on this reel is the handle, it has to much play towards the gearing, its something many Chinese built reels have today. For 17.99 euro this is something I can accept of course, even if the reel had cost two times more that price. In fact this reel is now replacing my old Shimano Baitrunner 3500 which has some strange mechanical sound when turned. Today the cheapest Shimano Baitrunner will set you back around 90 - 100 euro, this reel set you back only 17.99 and the quality is certainly the same as these Made in Malaysia Shimano's which in fact use plastic spools. I am not sure what happens if these reels go defect, you bring them back to Lidl together with your empty beer bottles ?

In the Netherlands this B-Square Free Runner 3000 as printed on the reel is not avaible at other importers of fishing tackle. But I was not surprised to find a German importer (Lidl is of course a German supermarket chain). The German importer is Saenger and they had a very nice catalogue in 2007 at the web which is not available anymore.. On page 13 you will find the Specitec Runner GTR which is the same reel however with a different handle, it cost 35,95 euro in Germany and has only 2 ball bearings. The Saenger company can be found here

So this Lidl reel is a excelent bargain !!Yes , a box is included and there is even a small instruction manual on how to use this reel.
The Dutch statement on the box is certainly true !

This carp was catched with this reel in may 2008 !
